1 Dead in Arlington Bicycle Accident on Interstate 20 near Matlock Road

ARLINGTON, TX (May 27, 2026) – Monday afternoon, a person died in a devastating bicycle crash on Interstate 20 near Matlock Road.

The incident happened just before 4:00 p.m. on eastbound Interstate 20 near Matlock Road.

Police said their investigation found the victim was attempting to cross Interstate 20 when a vehicle in the second lane swerved to avoid hitting the bicyclist.

Authorities said a Toyota Prius traveling behind that vehicle then struck the bicyclist. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the Prius driver and other passengers in the vehicle suffered minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Eastbound I-20 near Cooper Street was temporarily closed while officers investigated and cleared the scene.

The victim has not yet been identified. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the identity after the next of kin are notified.
