Devastating Crash on Pacific Avenue Southeast Claims a Life [Thurston County, WA]

Thurston County, WA (May 29, 2025) — On Wednesday afternoon, a woman in her 60s died and several others suffered injuries after a horrific crash on Pacific Avenue Southeast, where a pickup truck crashed into multiple vehicles, pedestrians, and an apartment building.

The Lacey Police Department said officers responded around 3:30 p.m. to the Reserve at Lacey, a senior apartment complex located near Pacific Avenue Southeast and Carpenter Road Southeast.

Investigators said the pickup truck struck four vehicles before crashing into the apartment building and hitting pedestrians in the area. Emergency crews attempted lifesaving measures on one pedestrian, but the woman died at the scene.

Authorities said the driver, described as a middle-aged man, suffered injuries and was taken by ambulance to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia. Another occupant inside a vehicle and an additional pedestrian sustained minor injuries and also received medical treatment.

Officials said one vehicle crashed into the apartment building while another hit a nearby light pole during the incident.

Lacey’s major collision team continues to investigate the cause of the crash. Police closed Pacific Avenue between Carpenter Road Southeast and Homann Drive Southeast for several hours as crews processed the scene.
