TEMPE, AZ (April 15, 2024) – Early Saturday morning, a devastating DUI crash on 48th Street and Southern Avenue killed 1 person.

The incident happened at about 12:30 a.m. near 48th Street and Southern Avenue.

Upon officers’ arrival, they located two cars involved in the crash. Meanwhile, responders took two people to the hospital with injuries.

Meanwhile, one of these people succumbed to injuries at the hospital. However, his identity remained undisclosed due to pending family notification.

Also, the second person sustained minor injuries.

Officers suspect that the vehicle driven by the deceased driver was speeding and failed to yield at a red light while driving eastbound on Southern Avenue, leading to the crash.

The authorities also believed that the driver may have been impaired.
