PHOENIX, AZ (March 19, 2026) – Monday afternoon, Lance Estervig was killed in a devastating dump truck crash on Carefree Highway near 87th Avenue.

According to reports, a dump truck rear-ended a Jeep Grand Cherokee for still unknown reasons. Then, the force of the crash pushed the jeep to spin into westbound traffic and crash with a Ford Expedition.

Moreover, responders rushed the driver of the Jeep, identified as 54-year-old Lance Estervig, to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Then, paramedics rushed a 17-year-old female passenger of the jeep to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Furthermore, officers said that the driver of the Ford sustained minor injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.
