1 Dead in Baytown Traffic Accident on 6500 Highway 146

BAYTOWN, TX (October 12, 2205) – Friday, a driver died in a devastating head-on crash on 6500 Highway 146.

The incident involving a BMW and another vehicle happened in the 6500 block of Highway 146.

Baytown police said officers spotted a BMW speeding and driving recklessly on Highway 146 near Alexander Drive around 8:00 p.m.

When they tried to pull the driver over, the vehicle refused to stop and continued north. Officers lost sight of it several times before it entered Chambers County, where the Sheriff’s Office took over the pursuit.

A short time later, the BMW was involved in a head-on crash near Crystal Blvd. The driver, a man, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

A man and a woman in the other vehicle were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Highway 146 is closed between Kilgore Parkway and Devinwood Drive and is expected to remain shut down for several hours.

Authorities urge drivers to take alternate routes. The Chambers County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation.
