56-Year-Old Man Killed in Devastating Head-On Crash on Colorado 128 and West 120th Avenue [Boulder County, CO]

1 Dead in Boulder County Auto Accident on US 85 and 2nd Street

BOULDER COUNTY, CO (January 8, 2026) – Sunday afternoon, a 56-year-old man died in a devastating head-on crash on Colorado 128 and West 120th Avenue.


The incident happened at about 5:20 p.m. when a 56-year-old Westminster man drove a sedan east on Colorado 128. Then, he went into the westbound lane and collided head-on with an SUV, according to Colorado State Patrol Trooper Gabriel Moltrer.

Moltrer said the man’s sedan left the roadway and rolled onto the south side of the highway, where he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The SUV driver, a 54-year-old man from Golden, was taken to a hospital with serious injuries after his vehicle rolled off to the south side of the highway. Moltrer said both drivers had been wearing seat belts and neither vehicle had passengers.

Colorado 128 was closed between Colorado 93 and McCaslin Boulevard until about 9:20 p.m. Sunday.
