KREMMLING, CO (August 12, 2025) – Thursday afternoon, a devastating head-on crash on Highway 40 near Milepost 173 killed one person.

The incident happened at around 5:40 p.m. on Highway 40 near Milepost 173.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, a Subaru Crosstrek crossed the center line and collided head-on with a Kia sedan.

Moreover, responders pronounced the driver of the Kia dead at the scene. Then, paramedics airlifted the 55-year-old female driver of the Subaru and two children to a hospital with unknown injuries.

Furthermore, the crash closed both directions of Highway 40 but has long since reopened.
