1 Dead in Oakland Pedestrian Accident on 1700 Embarcadero

OAKLAND, CA (September 30, 2026) – Wednesday afternoon, a woman died in a devastating hit-and-run crash on 1700 Embarcadero.

The incident happened at around 2:00 p.m. in the 1700 block of Embarcadero, a mostly commercial area.

A woman died after being found unconscious with head and other injuries on Embarcadero in Oakland, according to police.

The woman was found in the 1700 block of Embarcadero and taken to a hospital, where she later died. The death was initially considered suspicious and investigated by the homicide unit.

A subsequent autopsy determined her injuries were consistent with being struck by a vehicle, and the case was turned over to traffic investigators.

Police believe the woman was struck by an eastbound vehicle but have not identified the vehicle or driver. Investigators are also trying to determine what she was doing in the area.
