PHOENIX, AZ (June 29, 2026) – Sunday morning, a 40-year-old female pedestrian died in a devastating hit-and-run crash on 43rd Avenue and Thomas Road.

The incident involving a BMW that left the scene happened at about 6:20 a.m. in the area of 43rd Avenue and Thomas Road.

Police said a 60-year-old woman driving a Toyota Camry suffered serious injuries after her vehicle was struck by the BMW and was transported to a hospital.

Investigators said the BMW then struck a 40-year-old female pedestrian before crashing into a fence. The pedestrian was taken to a hospital in extremely critical condition, where she later died.

The BMW driver, a 24-year-old man, was later located at his home with serious injuries and taken to a hospital. Police said he will be arrested on hit-and-run charges and other possible charges once he is medically cleared.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the crash or the identity of the BMW driver to contact police or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
