BELLVILLE, TX (April 23, 2026) – Monday morning, Curtis Allen Ford died in a devastating multi-vehicle crash on Highway 36 near Loop 497.

The incident happened at around 8:30 a.m. on Highway 36 near Loop 497.

According to the Department of Public Safety, a southbound 2026 Freightliner truck-tractor towing a utility trailer failed to control speed in wet roadway conditions, hydroplaned, crossed into the northbound lanes, and struck a northbound 2023 Ford F-350.

Then, the force of the crash separated the utility trailer and rolled it over onto the Ford pickup.

Moreover, responders pronounced the driver of the Ford, identified as 69-year-old Curtis Allen Ford, dead at the scene. Then, paramedics transported the driver of the truck, identified as 35-year-old Ernest V Nduwamungu, to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center with unknown injuries.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the DPS continued investigating the crash.
