1 Dead in Acton Pedestrian Accident on 14 Freeway and Ward Road

ACTON, CA (August 12, 2026) – Monday night, a man died in a devastating pedestrian crash on 14 Freeway and Ward Road.

The incident happened at around 11:00 p.m. on 14 Freeway and Ward Road.

CHP Newhall Area officers and Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel responded to reports of a two-vehicle crash and a person in the roadway. They found a white Ford pickup and a red Tesla sedan blocking the lanes.

CHP spokesperson Officer Andre Ortiz said the pickup had run out of gas and stopped in the No. 3 lane near Ward Road. The driver got out and was standing behind the truck when the Tesla struck both him and the pickup.

The pickup driver was airlifted to Antelope Valley Medical Center but later died from his injuries. His identity has not been released pending notification of his family.

The Tesla driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. CHP said alcohol and drugs do not appear to have been factors.
