BAKERSFIELD, CA (August 11, 2026) – Monday morning, a man died in a devastating pedestrian crash on 24th Street.

The incident involving a male pedestrian hit by multiple vehicles happened at around 5:35 a.m. on the 24th Street bridge over the Kern River.

According to police, a pedestrian was killed after being struck by multiple vehicles in the westbound lanes of 24th Street.

Officers arrived to find the man in the roadway. Police said several vehicles struck the pedestrian, with some drivers leaving the scene without stopping.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The westbound lanes of 24th Street were closed while officers investigated the crash and processed the scene. The roadway was expected to remain closed until 9 a.m.
