1 Dead in Breckenridge Pedestrian Accident on Colorado Highway 9 near Mile Point 90

BRACKENRIDGE, CO (August 21, 2025) – Tuesday night, a 59-year-old man died in a devastating pedestrian crash on Colorado Highway 9.

The incident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian happened on Colorado Highway 9 near Mile Point 9. This happened near the highway’s intersection with Tiger Road, between Frisco and Breckenridge, said Colorado State Patrol Trooper Sherri Mendez.

A 35-year-old Black Hawk man driving a Ford Mustang northbound struck a pedestrian Tuesday night, authorities said. Preliminary findings indicate the driver braked before impact and that the pedestrian crossed in front of the car, placing fault on the pedestrian.

The crash happened around 9:50 p.m. on Aug. 19 and was handled by Colorado State Patrol and the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.

The Summit County Coroner’s Office will release the pedestrian’s identity after notifying the family.
