The incident happened at around 5:30 a.m. on Highway 246, just east of Via Juana.

According to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, a vehicle struck a woman and her dog for still unknown reasons.

Moreover, responders pronounced the victim and her dog, dead at the scene.
