PHOENIX, AZ (November 19, 2025) – Tuesday morning, a devastating pedestrian crash on McDowell Road and Interstate 17 killed 1 person.

The incident happened at about 1:45 a.m. on the northbound McDowell Road off-ramp on Interstate 17.

Troopers discovered that a pedestrian had been hit by a vehicle near the off-ramp. Arizona’s Family confirmed at the scene that the person died from their injuries.

The driver stayed on-site and cooperated with investigators. No arrest was made.

It’s still unclear what caused the crash or why the pedestrian was on the roadway. The off-ramp stayed closed for several hours while crews cleared the area.
