LOS ANGELES, CA (February 24, 2026) – Monday morning, a person died in a devastating pedestrian crash on Ventura Freeway and Lost Hills Road.

The incident involving a big rig and a pedestrian occurred at 5:57 a.m. on the eastbound side of Ventura Freeway, west of Lost Hills Road, said the California Highway Patrol.

Crews from the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded along with CHP officers, but the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

All eastbound freeway lanes were closed until about 6:45 a.m., when one lane reopened. Traffic backed up to Chesebro Road as the morning commute began.

All lanes reopened around 9:20 a.m., according to CHP.
