1 Dead in Modesto Pedestrian Accident on West Hatch Road near Boise Avenue

MODESTO, CA (May 5, 2026) – Saturday night, a man died in a devastating pedestrian crash on West Hatch Road near Boise Avenue.

The incident happened at around 8:50 p.m. on West Hatch Road, between Boise Avenue and Dallas Street, said Traffic Unit Sgt. Kyle Johnson.

Authorities said a man, believed to be around 30 years old, was in the middle of the road when he was struck by a 2017 Honda Accord and a 2018 Nissan Altima, according to Johnson.

Both drivers remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. However, evidence and witness statements indicate the man may have also been hit by a third vehicle, a dark pickup truck, whose driver fled.
