1 Dead in Monterey County Single-Vehicle Accident on Hudson Landing Road and Wells Road

MONTEREY COUNTY, CA (August 27, 2025) – Monday afternoon, a devastating pickup crash on Hudson Landing Road killed 1 person.

The incident happened at around 2:43 p.m. on Hudson Landing Road, south of Wells Road.

A red Toyota pickup went off the road, hit a power pole, and overturned, according to the CHP. A 19-year-old Watsonville man riding in the passenger seat was ejected and died at the scene.

The driver left before officers arrived, and it is not yet known if drugs or alcohol were involved. Anyone with information is asked to call the CHP at 831-796-2160.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
