Woman Killed in Devastating Rollover Crash on Highway 166

1 Dead in Santa Maria Auto Accident on Highway 166 near Rinconada Ranch

SANTA MARIA, CA (April 16, 2026) – Tuesday night, a woman died in a devastating rollover crash on Highway 166 near Rinconada Ranch.

The crash involving a single vehicle happened at about 6:45 p.m. on Highway 166 east near Rinconada Ranch, about halfway between Santa Maria and New Cuyama, fire Capt. Mike Gray said.

The driver of a Ford Fusion was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

A 3-year-old child was transported by a county ambulance to Marian Regional Medical Center. Officials said the child’s name and condition have not been released.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the vehicle came to rest upright about 20 feet off the roadway.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
