HARRIS COUNTY, TX (September 15, 2026) – Late Sunday night, a 24-year-old man died in a devastating vehicle crash in Veterans Memorial and FM 1960.

The incident happened at about 11:00 p.m. in Veterans Memorial and FM 1960.

A 24-year-old man was killed, and three teenagers were hospitalized after a vehicle crashed while fleeing from Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies, authorities said.

Deputies responded around 11:05 p.m. after witnesses reported vehicles doing donuts and speeding through a parking lot, with some passengers reportedly sitting on the doors. When deputies attempted to stop one vehicle, the driver fled eastbound on FM 1960 before turning south onto Ella Boulevard.

The driver, who deputies believe was the man who died, turned off the vehicle’s lights while fleeing. The vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when it struck a curb or median, causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle overturned in the 16500 block of Ella Boulevard.

Five people were inside the vehicle. Three teenagers were taken to area hospitals for treatment, while the 24-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. A teenage girl reportedly ran from the crash, prompting deputies to search the area with a helicopter and K-9 units.

HCSO said guns were found inside the vehicle. Authorities were working to identify the driver, and the investigation remains ongoing.
