2 Dead and 3 Injured in Sloughhouse Auto Accident on Scott Road and Latrobe Road

SLOUGHHOUSE, CA (May 18, 2026) – Sunday morning, 2 teenage girls died in a devastating vehicle crash on Scott Road and Latrobe Road.

The incident happened at around 12:29 a.m. on Scott Road, north of Latrobe Road. CHP confirmed that speed played a role in the crash.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a vehicle crashed into a tree and caught fire after the impact.

Authorities said a 16-year-old girl driving the car and a 14-year-old girl in the front passenger seat died at the scene. The vehicle became fully engulfed in flames after the crash.

CHP said emergency crews were alerted through an iPhone crash notification. Before responders arrived, passing motorists helped rescue three rear-seat passengers from the burning vehicle. Firefighters later provided medical care at the scene.

Two of the injured passengers are 16 years old, and the third is 15. One was taken to UC Davis Medical Center, another to Mercy San Juan Medical Center, and the third to Kaiser Permanente South Sacramento.

Investigators said it is not yet known whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
