Devonte Dunn Arrested in Suspected DWI Crash Near I-35 [Austin, TX]

Austin, TX (May 7, 2025) — Devonte Dunn faces multiple charges after leading authorities on a dangerous chase from New Braunfels to Austin that left four people injured Wednesday morning.

According to officials, deputies with the Comal County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a reckless and possibly intoxicated driver near the 17000 block of FM 306. Investigators said the driver, later identified as Dunn, had already crashed into a trash truck before deputies attempted a traffic stop.

Authorities said Dunn refused to pull over and continued driving as the pursuit moved through several areas. During the chase, the vehicle ran a red light and crashed into another car after deputies deployed stop sticks that flattened two tires. The truck later struck another vehicle, jumped a curb, and entered Interstate 35 northbound toward Austin.

Officials said a third tire deflated near San Marcos when Dunn tried to exit the highway, but he continued driving north on I-35. During the pursuit, investigators said Dunn also attempted to force a Texas DPS trooper off the road.

The chase ended in Austin after the truck slammed into a wall. Authorities arrested Dunn at the scene.

Dunn now faces charges including evading arrest with a vehicle, evading arrest on foot, four counts of aggravated assault, four counts of collision involving injury, driving while intoxicated, and driving with an invalid license.
