Andy Bustos Killed in U.S. 84/285 Crash Near Santa Fe

Santa Fe, NM (September 29, 2026) — On Wednesday, Diane Bustos, 74, and her husband, Andy Bustos, 77, died after a vehicle struck them while they were outside their parked vehicle on the shoulder of U.S. Highway 84/285 north of Santa Fe.

Santa Fe County sheriff’s deputies responded to the crash at about 7:34 a.m. Investigators said a southbound vehicle left the roadway and struck the couple.

Diane died at the scene from her injuries. Andy was transported to Christus St. Vincent Hospital, where he later died. A third person suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was also taken to the hospital.

The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Division continues to investigate the crash. Authorities said alcohol does not appear to have been a factor.
