39-Year-Old Adelanto Man Dies Days After Victorville Pedestrian Crash

Victorville, CA (March 18, 2026) — 39-year-old Diego Ayala of Adelanto has died days after being struck by a vehicle earlier this month in Victorville.

Authorities say that Ayala suffered critical injuries in the crash and was rushed to a hospital for treatment. The collision happened shortly after midnight on March 7 at the intersection of Palmdale Road and U.S. Highway 395.

Responding deputies found Ayala after a Toyota Prius hit him. Emergency crews transported him to Loma Linda University Medical Center, where he fought for his life for several days before succumbing to his injuries on March 13.

Officials said the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. The Victorville Major Accident Investigation Team continues to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
