16-Year-Old Dimitri Markovic Dies in Tragic Scooter Crash on East Wesley Drive [Aurora, CO]

Aurora, CO (August 5, 2025) – Authorities arrested 19-year-old Daveon Javon-James Jackson in connection to a hit-and-run on East Wesley Drive that killed 16-year-old Dimitri Markovic late Friday night.

According to authorities, the crash happened around 11:18 p.m. at the intersection with South Dunkirk Street.

Investigators say Markovic was riding an electric scooter in a marked bike lane, heading north on Wesley Drive, when Jackson, driving in the same direction, struck him from behind and fled the scene.

Emergency responders rushed Markovic to the hospital with critical injuries, including severe head trauma and internal bleeding. Sadly, he passed away shortly after arrival.

Aurora Police launched a search for the suspect and received crucial tips from the public. Investigators eventually identified the vehicle involved—a blue 2014 Dodge Charger—and arrested Jackson the next evening. Jackson now faces multiple charges, including hit-and-run resulting in death, failing to report the crash, and careless driving.

Markovic’s family described him as a vibrant teen who loved music, fishing, and spending time with loved ones. His untimely death has left a deep void in their lives.
