3 People Hurt in Valencia Traffic Accident on 5 Freeway near Rye Canyon Road

VALENCIA, CA (December 16, 2025) – Monday morning, a disastrous 2-vehicle crash on 5 Freeway near Rye Canyon Road injured three people.

The incident happened at around 11:20 a.m. on 5 Freeway near Rye Canyon Road.

According to California Highway Patrol spokesperson Officer Carlos Burgos-Lopez, a sedan rear-ended a Caltrans truck for still unknown reasons.

Moreover, the Los Angeles County Fire Department extricated two people who were trapped inside the wreckage. Then, paramedics transported three people to a hospital in stable condition.

Furthermore, the crash blocked the number 1, 2 and 3 lanes of the southbound 5 Freeway near Rye Canyon Road but has long since reopened.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.
