Injuries Reported in Crawford County Auto Accident on Interstate 44 near Sullivan

CRAWFORD COUNTY, MO (May 26, 2026) – Saturday, a disastrous 2-vehicle crash on Interstate 44 near Sullivan injured 2 people.

The incident involving two vehicles happened at about 9:16 p.m. on Interstate 44, just south of Sullivan.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that a 2011 Ford Escape was traveling eastbound on I-44 when it struck the rear of an abandoned vehicle left in the passing lane following a separate crash.

Authorities said the 18-year-old male driver from Stanton, Missouri, and a 16-year-old female passenger from Bourbon, Missouri, were critically injured in the collision.

Both occupants were transported by Missouri Baptist Ambulance to Mercy Hospital St. Louis, for treatment.

MSHP noted that both individuals were wearing seatbelts at the time of the incident.
