Injuries Reported in Odessa Vehicle Crash on 42nd Street

ODESSA, TX (April 16, 2026) – Sunday, a 16-year-old girl was hospitalized after a disastrous auto accident on 42nd Street.

The incident happened when an SUV crashed through the glass storefront of an Odessa Subway.

According to the Odessa Police Department, a 44-year-old woman was driving a Dodge Durango on 42nd Street when she dropped her phone. While trying to pick it up, she was unable to stop, and the SUV crashed through the front windows of a restaurant.

A witness, Gian Carlos Lopez, said he was eating at Subway and watching the show Invincible when the vehicle suddenly entered and struck a student. He said the girl was wearing a neck brace and was taken to the hospital.

Police identified the victim as a 16-year-old girl who was transported for treatment. Her condition has not been released.

The investigation is ongoing. The driver was cited for no proof of insurance.
