Disastrous Auto Accident on Central Expressway

Injuries Reported in Dallas Traffic Crash on Central Expressway

DALLAS, TX (January 20, 2026) – Last January 1, Michael Lavarius McRae was arrested in a disastrous auto accident on Central Expressway.

The incident happened just after 1:00 a.m. as a family drove north on Central Expressway.

Inside the vehicle were two parents and their two children, including their 7-year-old son, Saeed. Dallas police said a 23-year-old driver, identified as Michael Lavarius McRae, was driving a white Honda Civic and showed signs of intoxication.

According to police, witnesses reported seeing McRae weaving through lanes at a high rate of speed for several miles before his vehicle struck the family’s car on a central highway. The impact caused the family’s vehicle to flip.

Saeed, who was seated in the back, was ejected from the vehicle and landed on the roadway approximately 60 feet away. The rest of the family remained inside the car. Good samaritans stopped to assist Saeed before first responders arrived.

Saeed was transported to a hospital with serious injuries. Doctors later amputated his leg below the knee due to the severity of his injuries. He remains hospitalized at a children’s hospital.

Police arrested McRae on charges including intoxication assault with serious bodily injury, failure to maintain financial responsibility, and resisting arrest. He has since been released on bond.

The investigation remains ongoing.
