VICTORVILLE, CA (February 17, 2026) – Sunday afternoon, a disastrous auto accident on Highway 18 near Stoddard Wells Road injured two people.

The incident involving an SUV occurred at about 1:11 p.m. on Highway 18 near Stoddard Wells Road in Victorville.

According to San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Jenny L. Smith, the driver was turning left onto Highway 18 to head eastbound when he became distracted. The vehicle left the roadway and went into a large rock bed.

Smith said the driver and a passenger were taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Images from the scene show a white SUV wedged among large boulders at the base of a steep, rocky hillside along the highway.

No other vehicles were involved.
