44-Year-Old Passenger Injured in Disastrous DUI Crash on State Route 1 [Ventura County, CA]

Injuries Reported in Ventura County Auto Accident on State Route 1

VENTURA COUNTY, CA (May 21, 2026) – Saturday afternoon, a 44-year-old passenger was injured in a disastrous DUI crash on State Route 1.

The incident happened on the southbound State Route 1.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the drivers of both vehicles suffered minor injuries, while a 44-year-old Oxnard man who was a passenger in the Honda was airlifted to Los Robles Regional Medical Center for further treatment.

Investigators said a 45-year-old Oxnard man was driving a black Honda Accord northbound on State Route 1 near Mugu Rock with a 44-year-old passenger when the Honda crossed into the southbound lanes.

Authorities said a gray Tesla Model Y driven by a 44-year-old Camarillo man was traveling southbound when the Honda struck the front of the Tesla.

CHP said a DUI investigation was conducted at the scene, and the Honda driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence before being taken to St. John’s Hospital with minor injuries.
