SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA (May 13, 2026) – Saturday afternoon, a 12-year-old rider sustained injuries in a disastrous electric bike crash near Spooner Drive and Welsh Court.

The incident happened at about 4:30 p.m. near Spooner Drive and Welsh Court.

A 12-year-old child suffered serious injuries after a crash involving a vehicle and an electric bike, according to the San Luis Obispo Police Department.

Police said the child was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

Authorities said the child sustained major injuries and was initially treated at a local hospital before being airlifted to an out-of-area trauma center because of the severity of the injuries. The child is currently listed in stable condition.

The victim’s identity has not been publicly released.
