5 People Hospitalized in Colorado Mountains Auto Accident on US Highway 285 near Bailey

COLORADO MOUNTAINS, CO (December 24, 2025) – Tuesday afternoon, a disastrous head-on crash on US Highway 285 near Bailey injured five people.

The incident happened at around 1:00 p.m. on US Highway 285 near Bailey.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, a 2017 Kia and a 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan collided head-on for still unknown reasons. Then, a 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe struck the two vehicles involved in the earlier crash.

Moreover, responders transported four children with minor injuries and an adult woman with serious injuries to a hospital for treatment.

Furthermore, the crash closed US Highway 285 in both directions from Bulldogger Road to Roland Valley Drive. All lanes have long since reopened.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the Colorado State Patrol continued investigating the crash.
