Injuries Reported in Columbia Pedestrian Accident on 700 Demaret Drive

COLUMBIA, MO (March 10, 2026) – Sunday night, a 9-year-old girl sustained injuries in a disastrous hit-and-run crash on 700 Demaret Drive.

The incident occurred at around 6:45 p.m. when the girl crossed 700 block of Demaret Drive. Then, a vehicle hit her, said Boone County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Brian Leer.

Reports said the vehicle involved was a red sedan driven by a young woman with a black dog inside, according to Leer. The car left the area heading north on Hogan Drive.

Leer said the vehicle may have front-end damage, but investigators did not find debris or other evidence from the car at the scene.

Neighbors said the section of road where the 9-year-old girl was struck often has drivers speeding and rolling through stop signs. The sheriff’s office had not confirmed whether speed played a role in the crash.
