Man Injured in Disastrous Hit-and-Run Crash on Interstate 10

Injuries Reported in El Paso Pedestrian Accident on Interstate 10 and Airway

EL PASO, TX (August 9, 2026) – Saturday morning, a 26-year-old man sustained injuries in a disastrous hit-and-run crash on Interstate 10 and Airway.

The incident happened just before 3:00 a.m. on Interstate 10 and Airway.

According to police, the 26-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries after being struck by a pickup truck while changing a tire along Interstate 10.

The man was changing a flat tire when an unknown vehicle exited I-10 at the Airway off-ramp and struck him before fleeing the scene. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Police described the suspect vehicle as possibly a silver or gray 2010 to 2015 Chevrolet pickup truck.

Special Traffic Investigations is leading the investigation. Authorities noted that this was the second serious crash involving a person changing a tire along the roadside in about a week.
