Father and 9-Year-Old Boy Killed in Three-Vehicle Crash Near Hemet

Hemet, CA (June 13, 2025) — A tragic three-vehicle collision near Hemet claimed the lives of 41-year-old Nicholas McWhirter and 9-year-old Dominic McWhirter while injuring three others Tuesday evening.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Nicholas and Dominic McWhirter, both of Covina, suffered fatal injuries in the crash, which happened shortly before 6 p.m. at the intersection of Ramona Expressway and Lincoln Avenue.

Investigators said an 18-year-old woman driving a Nissan Rogue was traveling north on Lincoln Avenue when her vehicle collided with a Nissan Versa traveling east on Ramona Expressway. The impact sent the Versa spinning into the westbound lanes, where it struck a Ford Mustang Mach-E.

Nicholas McWhirter, who was driving the Versa, and Dominic McWhirter were pronounced dead at the scene.

Emergency responders transported the driver and passenger of the Nissan Rogue, along with the driver of the Ford, to a local hospital with minor to moderate injuries.

Authorities have not determined whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. The investigation remains ongoing.
