Family Seeks Public’s Help After East El Paso Hit-and-Run Injures 20-Year-Old Worker

El Paso, TX (May 17, 2025) — 20-year-old Dominic Wegmann remains hospitalized after a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured him while he walked back to work on Mother’s Day in East El Paso.

According to authorities, Wegmann was crossing Album Avenue near McRae Boulevard late Sunday morning, May 10, when a black pickup truck struck him and fled the scene. Wegmann had reportedly gone to a nearby Circle K to buy slushies for coworkers at The Shack Slice & Brew restaurant.

Authorities said the crash happened near the Eastwood area, directly across from the restaurant. Investigators with the El Paso Police Department’s Special Traffic Investigations Unit continue searching for the driver involved.

Wegmann suffered severe injuries, including a broken and dislocated hip and a broken arm. His family said he faces multiple surgeries and a lengthy recovery. Because he does not have medical insurance, relatives launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover medical expenses.

The family is asking residents to check surveillance cameras or dashcam footage for any possible evidence connected to the crash. Police urge anyone with information to contact the El Paso Police Department or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
