Donna Lynn Sulu Dies in Tragic 2-Car Crash on Highway 178 [Lake Isabella, CA]

Lake Isabella, CA (February 20, 2025) – 62-year-old Donna Lynn Sulu of Lake Isabella tragically lost her life Tuesday afternoon, after a car crash on Highway 178.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the frightening incident happened at about 12:15 p.m. east of Lake Isabella Boulevard.

Reports say that the tragic collision claimed the life of the 62-year-old woman.

Authorities say that a CHP officer driving along Highway 178, discovered the two-vehicle crash.

Investigators determined that Sulu was driving a 2019 Subaru eastbound on Highway 178 at an undetermined speed. Meanwhile, a 2021 International semi-truck traveled westbound at approximately 45 miles per hour.

Sulu failed to navigate a curve in the roadway, causing her vehicle to veer off and collide with multiple roadway signs. The Subaru then continued in a northeasterly direction, crossing both lanes and into the path of the oncoming semi-truck.

Emergency responders transported Sulu to Kern Valley Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. The semi-truck driver reported back pain but did not require hospitalization.

Authorities closed Highway 178 for about three hours to investigate the crash. CHP stated that alcohol and drugs do not appear to have contributed to the accident.
