Driver Alex Cortez Injured in Deadly Crash on FM 209 [Young County, TX]

Young County, TX (May 18, 2025) – Driver Alex Cortez and his passenger, Shalynn Cortez, were injured in a deadly crash on FM 209 past Saturday noon.

It was around 12:54 p.m. on May 17 when the fatal traffic crash happened approximately 1.5 miles East of Murray.

Joshua Hoffman, 27, of Fort Worth, was riding his motorcycle north on the highway while Alex Cortez and his passenger were southbound on the same road. 

Troopers said Hoffman failed to negotiate a curve and drove into the southbound lane. 

Hoffman collided with the Silverado head-on. 

Sadly, responding officers declared Hoffman deceased at the scene. 

Moreover, the paramedics rushed Alex and Shalynn to Graham Regional Medical Center with non-incapacitating injuries.
