Driver Injured in Deadly 2-Vehicle Collision on Highway 50 [Lee’s Summit, MO]

Lee’s Summit, MO (June 26, 2025) – A wrong-way, 2-vehicle collision on Highway 50, Tuesday evening killed one person and seriously injured another.

According to authorities, the collision happened around 11:20 p.m. in the westbound lanes of U.S. 50, just east of the Missouri 291 north interchange.

Emergency crews responded to find two vehicles that had collided head-on.

A preliminary investigation shows one vehicle was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes when it struck a westbound vehicle.

Authorities pronounced the wrong-way driver dead at the scene.

Paramedics transported the other driver to a hospital with serious injuries.

Police are withholding the name of the deceased driver until they can notify family.
