Police Investigate Tractor-Trailer Crash on Interstate 20 in Kilgore

KILGORE, TX (June 11, 2026)— One person was injured in a crash on Interstate 20 

Reportedly, a truck tractor, and trailer left the roadway and crashed into a treeline on eastbound Interstate 20 in Kilgore.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety and TxDOT, the crash fully closed eastbound I-20 at mile marker 590, just past State Highway 31, in Gregg County.

The Kilgore Fire Department said crews responded to the scene after the truck tractor and trailer went off the roadway and struck the treeline.

Firefighters rescued the driver from the truck. Emergency responders transported the driver to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

TxDOT said eastbound traffic was being detoured onto Post Oak Road to State Highway 31. Officials also closed northbound SH 31 out of Kilgore to the I-20 on-ramps.

Authorities estimated that crews would clear and reopen the roadway around 6 p.m.

Officials have not released additional details about what caused the truck to leave the roadway.

The crash remains under investigation.
