CHP Investigates Crash on East Evan Hewes Highway 

IMPERIAL COUNTY, CA – A serious crash on East Evan Hewes Highway early Thursday morning left one person hospitalized with major injuries after their vehicle struck a power pole, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

The collision was reported just after 5:00 a.m. Initial reports from CHP indicated there were no obvious injuries at the scene. 

However, emergency responders from AMR Ambulance later confirmed that the driver had, in fact, sustained major injuries. 

The victim was treated at the scene and transported to a local hospital. 

No identifying information or medical updates have been released at this time.

According to officials, the vehicle collided head-on with a utility pole, causing catastrophic damage to the front end of the car and snapping the pole at its base. 

The Imperial Irrigation District was called to the scene to manage the damaged infrastructure and begin work on restringing downed power lines.

The crash remains under active investigation, and no further details regarding the cause have been made public.
