Somerton Man Dies in High-Speed Rear-End Crash in Yuma County

Yuma County, AZ (August 13, 2025) – A pickup driver was hurt in a rear-end collision near 8th Street early Sunday morning and it led to the death of a Somerton man.

According to authorities, the frightening crash happened around 5:50 a.m. near W. 8th Street and S. Alicia Avenue.

Reports say that a westbound GMC 3500 dually pickup was struck from behind by a Kia Forte traveling at high speed. The impact killed the Kia’s driver, the 20-year-old Somerton man, at the scene. The pickup driver sustained minor injuries and received treatment at Onvida Health.

Investigators believe alcohol played a role in the crash, which remains under review.
