1 Dead in San Diego Traffic Crash on State Route 163 and Friars Road

SAN DIEGO, CA (October 30, 2025) – Tuesday morning, a driver died in a brutal auto accident on State Route 163 and Friars Road.

The incident happened at about 2:19 a.m. on State Route 163 southbound, just north of Friars Road, said the California Highway Patrol.

Authorities reported that a BMW crash left the driver ejected and the passenger trapped as the vehicle burst into flames.

A California Highway Patrol unit, which happened to witness the collision, immediately turned back to assist. Both occupants were pulled from the wreck and taken to a nearby hospital.

The driver later succumbed to his injuries, while the passenger’s condition remains unknown, according to the CHP.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.

Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
