Driver Fatally Hurt after San Marcos Solo-Car Crash on Highway 78
SAN MARCOS, CA (August 15, 2019) – A driver died after a solo car crash on Highway 78 near Palomar College on Tuesday, August 13.
The man drove east through San Marcos at around 1:30 p.m. when for unknown reasons, his Chevrolet Camaro veered off the south side of the freeway. After that, the vehicle rolled over and went down an embankment just west of Rancho Santa Fe Road, California Highway Patrol said.
Medics transported the driver to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido. He succumbed to his injuries there, CHP public-affairs Officer Jim Bettencourt stated.
The victim’s name was not immediately released pending notification of his loved ones.
The cause of the accident was under investigation, according to Bettencourt.
