Driver Lydia Barnes Dead in FM 902 Vehicle Crash

City Employee Killed in Head-On Crash on FM 902 Collinsville, Texas

Collinsville, TX (January 22, 2026) – Lydia Barnes, 28, a Collinsville city employee, was fatally injured following an FM 902 vehicle crash Monday morning.

The fatal two-vehicle crash happened around 7 a.m. at the 8000 block area.

Investigators said a pickup truck driven by Grayson Cates, 19, went over the center line and struck head-on a compact car driven by Barnes.

Rescuers rushed to the scene and freed both drivers from their vehicles.

Cates sustained incapacitating injuries and was airlifted to Medical City Denton.

Barnes was pinned for over an hour and died in the collision. Officers said she was on her way to work at that time.

Texas DPS is conducting a further investigation into the deadly crash.
