Drivers Injured in 2-Vehicle Crash on 59th Avenue [Glendale, AZ]

Glendale, AZ (August 16, 2025) – Two drivers were transported following a 2-vehicle crash on 59th Avenue late Thursday morning.

The traffic accident happened at the intersection with Behrend Drive, south of the Loop 101.

Investigators said that a vehicle was turning left from northbound 59th Avenue onto westbound Behrend Drive when it was hit by red sedan that was traveling south.

As a result, the vehicle that was hit lost control and drove into an apartment complex pond and the red car caught fire.

Some of the witnesses jumped into the water to rescue the driver, who was still inside the underwater vehicle. 

Moreover, the other driver was able to safely get out of the burning car. 

Both drivers were taken to the hospital with non-serious injuries.

Troopers do not believe speed or impairment were factors in this collision.
