Suspected DUI Crash on 39th Avenue Injures Motorcycle Rider [Puyallup, WA]

Puyallup, WA (January 7, 2025) On Sunday evening, a 28-year-old motorcycle rider was hurt and hospitalized after a suspected DUI crash on 39th Avenue Southwest.

According to Puyallup police, the horrific collision happened at about 6:02 p.m. on 39th Avenue Southwest near the 700 block.

Reports say that a serious collision near South Hill Mall left a motorcyclist with significant injuries and prompted hours-long road closures.

Authorities say that a motorcyclist, traveling eastbound on 39th Avenue Southwest, collided with a pickup truck that entered the roadway from 7th Street Southwest without yielding the right of way. The impact ejected the rider and motorcycle across the road. Emergency responders transported the injured motorcyclist, a Pierce County resident, to a local hospital for treatment.

Police assessed the pickup truck driver, a 72-year-old man, at the scene. After conducting an impairment evaluation, authorities arrested the man on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI).
