SAN DIEGO, CA (June 26, 2026)— A 46-year-old man was arrested in a suspected DUI crash on 50th Street Thursday night after authorities said he crashed into two San Diego police vehicles and struck two police sergeants at an active crash scene in the Colina del Sol neighborhood.

According to the San Diego Police Department, officers were investigating a serious injury collision near 50th Street and El Cajon Boulevard at about 10:30 p.m.

Police had closed both directions of El Cajon Boulevard at 50th Street with marked patrol vehicles and activated emergency lights to protect the crash scene.

Authorities said the driver of a Kia Soul was traveling eastbound on El Cajon Boulevard when he approached the closure. Police said the driver made no apparent attempt to slow down or respond to the marked police vehicles.

The Kia then crashed into two marked SDPD patrol vehicles before continuing into the collision scene, where it struck two police sergeants. Both sergeants suffered minor injuries.

Police arrested the 46-year-old Kia driver on suspicion of felony driving under the influence.

The San Diego Police Department’s Traffic Division continues to investigate.
