Police Investigate DUI Crash on Clark Street in Columbia

Columbia, MO (April 2, 2026) – Two people were hurt in a DUI crash on Clark Street.

Authorities arrested a 39-year-old man Wednesday night after they say he crashed and overturned an SUV while under the influence of alcohol and marijuana.

According to the Mexico Department of Public Safety, the man was driving a Cadillac SUV in the 4800 block of Clark Street when he failed to follow a curve in the road.

Investigators said the SUV continued straight for about a tenth of a mile off the roadway, struck an embankment, and then flipped end over end for about another tenth of a mile before coming to rest on its roof.

Police said the driver and his 32-year-old passenger, who is also from Mexico, were able to get out of the SUV with little assistance.

Emergency crews transported both individuals by ambulance to University Hospital for treatment.

Witnesses told officers the SUV had been speeding and driving recklessly shortly before the crash.

Based on their investigation, police believe the driver had been drinking alcohol and using marijuana before the collision.

The case remains under investigation.
